Hidden away on a relatively windy road (approaching from the South anyway) in Eagle Rock, this library takes the recycled materials mantra pretty seriously. An interesting feat of creative engineering, some of the shelves are almost drawers, but work incredibly well. While not perhaps the prettiest little library around, it does seem very well maintained and well-curated. I was almost jealous of the great selection and the depth and breadth of what was available. I did manage to leave a few books and only take one however–but fair warning that I’m going to be going back soon. Not many of the libraries I’ve visited have a very clear theme, but this one definitely seems to be specializing in contemporary fiction. This is also one of the few libraries I’ve visited that either stamps or puts stickers in their covers — a nice touch, I think. They’re also one of the few libraries I’ve been to that had bookmarks available, though they were all from nearby bookshops rather than homemade as I might have expected from the exterior.
Located on a spacious corner, there was a ton of easy and convenient parking. I also learned a new shortcut through part of Eagle Rock that I hadn’t been aware of previously.
