A New Donation of 12 Terrifically Diverse Books

An anonymous donor has dropped off 12 of the most interesting and diverse books this morning! Non-fiction fans will be particularly pleased.

Since there’s not much space in the library due to our new batch last week, we’ll start putting them out early next week as space becomes available. Thank You kind patron!

50 New Books!

Things had been feeling stagnant recently, and we had a nice stack of donations recently, so this evening we’ve swept out the old and brought in the new!

There are now more than 50 new books in the library! Stop by and check out the new offerings. We’ve got a little bit of everything from almost all genres.

Special thanks to our generous patrons including:

  • Donovan & Family
  • Pat
  • Jeffrey
  • Chris
  • and 5 other anonymous donors

who’ve donated over 50 books in the past month and change. We’ve updated the “leader board” to reflect the donations.

No sooner had they gone in, but a few passersby have already managed to pick up some good reading for the night. Some were surprised to learn that there’s a bottom shelf “hidden” behind our Little Free Library sign on the front with even more books.

As always, happy reading!

Major Donation = Great New Selection of Books

This morning we were pleasantly and overwhelmingly surprised by a visit from first time patron and neighbor Kelly Buller. She left a huge donation of a variety of 26 books spanning fiction, biography, and several other areas of non-fiction. Her donation was so large that it equals the number of books we received on our opening day. What a wealth of riches!

Thank you Kelly!

Needless to say we’re turning over all of our current stock so that there is a lot of new material to choose from. We’re also including a donation of three Mario Puzo works from J. Fernandez (a City of Glendale employee, Water Department) on January 27th — the small one and two book donations comprise the vast majority of the books that flow through the library.

Whether you’re a donor big or small, I know everyone in the neighborhood appreciates your help!

Today’s Books: November 14, 2015

The library was starting to get a bit thin up top, so we’ve released some new books which were recently donated by library friend Allison Pieter.

Our GoodReads shelf of available books should now be relatively up to date.

Big Changes over the Weekend

I still have yet to do any kind of publicity for my newly launched Little Free Library, but while I was away at the beach for the weekend, there were some substantive changes.

Over the weekend we’ve loaned out

And we’ve gotten three new donations overnight

The updated list of our current stock can be found on our GoodReads shelf.

Guest Book

We’ve added a guest book for our visitors. You’ll find a red composition book (and pen) inside our library where you can leave your thoughts and comments. Kindly leave the guest book in the library – it’s the one book we have that doesn’t circulate!

In some part the guest book is meant to help catalog the progress of our library. Below are some suggestions for what you might write into our guest book when you visit:

  • Patrons/Associate Librarians are encouraged to (optionally) write in the books they donate or check out.
  • Say hello to your fellow neighbors! You can simply write down the day and time of your visit along with a note for future visitors.
  • Bringing back a book? Feel free to write in a short review of the book you’re returning so others will know what they’re getting into. (If you give it a number of stars, be sure to indicate out of how many possible, so we know your scale.)
  • Liked a book you borrowed? Flip back into the guest book to see who made the donation and write in a thank you to the donor.
  • Have a book you’ve been longing for? Write it in and maybe a fellow neighbor has a copy they can donate on a future visit.
  • Visiting our branch from far away? Be sure to write down your hometown and country  so we know how far away our books travel.

Initial Stock of Books

Today, we added the initial stock of books to our new library.  Planning has commenced for some type of grand opening. If you have any thoughts on grand opening ideas, please add them below.

Our first book added on 7/28/15 was The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber.
